Ever since we can remember, students have anticipated midterm exams after Christmas, studying many subjects to get the best grade possible. However, this year, students have begun to take a more creative approach to how we can show our knowledge of information. Emily Fender (‘17) came up with the idea to create a play of Macbeth after reading it in class to replace the test and make up half of the midterm English AP exam.

“I kind of daydreamed about how I could put something on with the AP Literature kids and how fun that would be, especially because I have so many of my friends in that class.”

The play will require a lot of work though, “I know it’ll be a tough process that will require lots of effort from every single cast and crew member, but I know at the end when we put this on it’ll just feel so great for everyone.” Fender explained.

Fender feels that acting out the play will be a unique way to understand the themes of the play, “I’ve always had the hardest time focusing on reading words on a page, so being able to promote visual entertainment that can still be scholarly is really special to me.”

She added,“I think this is going to be an amazing experience and honestly kind of surreal!”
