Alex Boutwell

Alex Boutwell (‘24) looked out at the glistening St. Johns River and described their true passion: art.

“Art is a really big part of my life”. Boutwell works for at least 2-3 hours everyday, and they highly value the materials they use. 

“This is a Wacom pen.  It’s for digital art” they said, and held up a thick pen with a plastic tip. “I probably wouldn’t have gotten it unless I was really dedicated to art.” The pen, which costs about $70, is typically only used by professionals.                                                                  

The wacom pen has aided Boutwell mentally as well as physically. “It (art) is a way to express myself in ways that are more than just speaking,” they said.

“It just seems like it’s always been the right thing for me.”
