New AP Computer Science Principles Class to be Offered Next Year

As Bolles transitions into becoming a more technology-oriented school, a new class will be offered along with AP Computer Science A. Rather than focusing solely on coding, students will learn general concepts in Computer Science and learn how Computer Science impacts technology.

“We will be offering one period of AP Computer Science Principles next year,” said Dr. Bowling. “It’s going to be a hybrid class, versus strictly programming. It’s going to be self-paced, and students will have set deadlines they have to meet, which they can work towards as quickly or slowly as they want.”

Dr. Bowling also mentioned that there will be no book for the class. Students will have an AP exam that only lasts two hours, but this will be supplemented by two major projects turned in during the school year.
