The student council hosted its first ever social for teachers this past week during zero hour to encourage the new kids on the block to socialize with the old tenures upstairs.

The student council sub-committee co-chairs, Rawan Farah (‘16) and George Lewis (’18), came up with the idea for a teacher social after realizing just how many teachers are new to Bolles this year. Farah said, “It’s like being the new kid in school so we thought it would be fun to help teachers meet other teachers.”

The breakfasts were held Monday through Wednesday this past week in the Alumni Conference room during zero hour. The socials and were planned based on non-testing days so that each department would get a chance to bond with their fellow colleagues.

Farah, student council sub-committee chair said, “Breakfast is cute. We wanted to provide mimosas but that’s not allowed.” Student council also provided the teachers with a lot of coffee. Coffee is a requisite for teachers dealing with high school students.

This teacher social turned out to be not only an enjoyment for the student council spectators but also surprisingly for the teachers that attended. “We had a good turn out today” said Farah.

The teachers also learned a lot about each other and their past glory days.

Farah and Lewis also told us of the gratitude and appreciation of the new teachers to be working in an environment like Bolles. “I think it’s just fun. I don’t know what they’re talking about but someone will describe a cereal and everyone will nod their heads and laugh” said Farah.
