Twelve Bolles student-athletes were honored on February 3 for committing to colleges.  Next year these athletes will join impressive college sports teams, and Bolles is proud to have been a part of their training.  The seniors include Fernando Acosta-Rua, golf; Daniel Perez, crew; Andy Song An, men’s swimming; Cat Gleason and Maddie Wessell, women’s swimming; Austin Williams, basketball; and Kyle Johnson, Will Mitchell, T.J. Floyd, Jordan Jackson, Zac Crosby, TJ Ford and Joe King; football.

Acosta-Rua, who will attend Sewanee, was commended by coach Rick Root as “one of the team’s top scorers, who showed up to compete consistently.” Root also joked that Acosta-Rua’s personality made long bus rides seem shorter.

Basketball coach Anthony Candelino described Austin Williams as a player who “could not get enough basketball”, and who recently scored his 1000th point.  Williams will attend Yale on a scholarship.

Football coach Corky Rogers said of the six good friends signing for football, “Sometimes there are players where you’re happy for them but you’re not sold on everything they’ve done but not these guys. I can’t find a bad thing to say about them.”

Johnson, who Raines High School nicknamed “The Beast”, will attend the United States Air Force Academy.  Mitchell will attend Middle Tennessee State University, Crosby will attend the University of South Alabama, Floyd will attend Princeton University, Jackson will attend the Air Force Academy Prep School, and King will attend the United States Military Academy Prep School.

Coach Rogers praised his players’ tenacity in the face of challenges, saying,  “Zac Crosby broke his leg freshman year (but) junior year started a great career.”
Representing men’s crew, Daniel Perez will attend Dartmouth College.

Bolles swimming is proud to announce that Andy Song An will attend the University of California, Berkley; Cat Gleason will attend Centre College; and Maddie Wessell will attend Williams College.
The athletes’ dedication and discipline have helped Bolles athletics set a standard of excellence.  Bolles applauds their accomplishments and wishes them luck as they start a new path in college.
