The Bolles Boys Crew season has kicked off. This year the Bolles High School Boy Crew program is looking very promising.

The boys have been putting in lots of hours of hard work. “Practices have been very tough this year with the addition of morning weights” said Pete Woodall (’17). The boys hope to return the Stotesbury Cup Regatta they attended in Pennsylvania.

“Lots of positivity surges throughout the team this year following a dismal blowout at states last year. I expect that the improved work ethic and team spirit will drive us towards a more positive outcome for this year” said Justin Wolter (’17).

This year the boys can expect “to have a good rivalry with Winter Park High School or Capital Cities Rowing this year” said Wolter (’17).

These rivalries challenge the team, and help them prepare for the big regattas like Regionals and States.

Pre-race rituals are always important to get the adrenalin flowing before a race. The boys have “a pump up chant that we deliver before going out. I can’t say all of it, but it gets us going and ready to race.” said Nick McIntyre (’17), Captain of the team.

“It’s hard to tell how any season will go because that’s just the way rowing works. But we’ve put in the work, we’ve got some fast times and we’re in really good position to do well.” stated Mylntyre (’17).

However, Sai Mancha (’17) believes the season “should end with a state title and medals around our necks.”
