On February 5, 19 seniors signed to colleges and universities to continue playing their given sport. This was a very important day for these students as it is a decision that will shape the rest of their lives. Choosing where you are going to continue your academic and athletic career is a very exciting time for seniors here at Bolles.
Starting off with track and field and cross country there were three commitments in February. Parker Adams ‘25 will continue his track and field career at Florida State University. Jack Camp ‘25 will continue his career at Washington and Lee University. Estella Bruneau ‘25 signed to the University of Richmond.
“I chose the University of Richmond because of its small class sizes, giving me the opportunity to make connections with my teachers and peers, its flexible major options, allowing me to mix and match majors and minors, and its beautiful campus and location,” said Bruneau. She also stated that Coach Ryan and Coach Amelia were her biggest influences on her athletic journey and that they helped her get to where she is today.
Football had eight commitments on spring signing day. Chase Collier ‘25 to Baylor University. Ethan Drumm ‘25 signed to Wofford College. CJ Ennis ‘25 signed to Morgan State University. Emmett Grzebin ‘25 and MJ Jenkins ‘25 both signed to Furman University. Troy Holloway ‘25 signed with Sewanee. Jalen Ross ‘25 signed to the University of Delaware. Lastly, Luke Stenson ‘25 signed to the University of Mount Union.
Boys golf had one athlete signing on spring signing day. Luke Balaskiewicz ‘25 signed to the University of North Florida. Balaskiewicz had a very good season and is excited to be able to play golf at a division one program.
“I chose UNF because I like the Golf program there and I think that the program there can help advance my game to the next level,” said Balaskiewicz. He also stated that his mom has been important with his journey. “The biggest influence on my athletic journey has been my mom, she has been there every step of the way and made all of it possible.”
For boys lacrosse two seniors signed to continue their lacrosse careers. Henry Hobby ‘25 signed to Sewanee: The University of the South. Jake Kerns 25 Signed to Goucher College.
There was one signing for rowing on spring signing day. Abby Bradley ‘25 signed to George Washington University for Women’s Rowing. The recruiting process was an exhilarating experience for her.
“I had no idea that I could even row in college and then when it came spring, I began thinking about it,” Bradley said. “I didn’t even start emailing coaches until the beginning of summer. That is when I reached out and our team had made it to nationals, so I met a lot of college coaches who were there, and I ended up talking to the assistant coach at George Washington.”
Bradley also said that she would miss rowing at Bolles and the good times she had here. “I really am going to miss my teammates a lot and just seeing them every day. Also, being on the Saint John’s, I love it, the warm weather, and being outside every day. I’m definitely gonna miss it.”
Lastly, there were four signings for swimming and diving on February 5th. João de Cruz Guedes ‘25 signed to continue his swimming career at New York University. Wyatt Porch ‘25 signed to Florida Atlantic University. Alexander Primavera 25’ signed to Emory University. Alston Qin ‘25 signed and will continue his career at Columbia University.
