Everything You Need to Know about Club Requirements

Kennedy McKinney, Contributing Writer

One of the best ways to make friends at school is to join a club that fits your interest. But what if there aren’t any clubs that appeal to you? Easy, create one.

To start a new club you must first create a constitution. The constitution states your club’s purpose, what it will raise money for, and how you will hold elections. A club sponsor, a faculty member who will attend your meetings and sign off on all of your fundraisers, is also required in order to have a club. Lastly, you must give your constitution to Ms. Moyer-Shad, director of student activities, for approval.

There is no limit to how many clubs Bolles can have but they try to make sure that there are not a plethora of similar clubs, “There is no limit. Although, we do try to ensure that clubs do not have an identical mission” said Ms. Moyer. Also, in order for a club to qualify there has to be at least eight members.

This year a few clubs have caught Ms. Moyer Shad’s eye, “I have been most impressed with Jeremy Hodgson’s Global Educators, The Happy Club run by Alexandra Bishop and George Lewis and the Interact Club with co-presidents Libby Levin and Taya Edwards.”

Be sure to check these out next year.

Ms. Moyer-Shad’s advice to any aspiring club founders is: ”Find your passion and get started, it’s that easy.”
