Creative Calculus: Senior AP Projects

Ana Torubara, Managing Editor

Due to the current administration’s new policy, the last week of school is filled with AP teachers’ senior projects. Mrs. Reinschmidt, who teaches AP AB Calculus, offered a variety of projects related to the course.

Her options include writing a math-related song based off a popular song, such as  “I Will Derive,” designing a game based off of a concept in calculus, developing a lesson on a BC Calculus topic, or constructing a model of a volume question.

Reinschmidt wanted to have projects “that were fun and not terribly stressful with a variety of choices that are more mathematical or more artistic.”

Grace Calavan ’16 chose to make a model of a volume question from the AP exam: “I was a little crushed when I saw that problem so I wanted to turn it into a project.” The problem she is referring to was to find the volume of a funnel.
Mrs. Reinschmidt said, “everyone found something suited for them.”
