Students interested in the humanities have two new semester course options in the 2017-2018 school year. English teachers Stam and Jacobson join junior level teacher Mike Mulvey as teachers offering electives.

Stam’s class in film will focus on both cinema history and the elements of film production. The class will not simply be a chance to watch movies during the school day. Students will write analytical papers, breaking down the technique behind cinema classics and new masterpieces.

In the Spring semester, Jacobson will offer a creative writing and introduction to journalism class. Students interested in moving to the higher-level production classes such as Bugle/Perspective and Turris are encouraged to take this class.

Stam and Jacobson have also discussed combining their classes’ work by having creative writing students write scripts for the film class to produce.
