January 29th brought high respects to the Bolles school, when alumni David Treadwell presented a golden football as a gift from the National Football League (NFL) in honor of the fiftieth super bowl.

Treadwell was one of many former NFL players, who visited their high schools to deliver the commemorative football and speak on their experience as a student and player.

During his deliverance speech, Treadwell quoted a line about perseverance from a favored book; “Knock the ‘t’ of off ‘can’t’.” He informed the students that the line encouraged him to continue on in times of hardships. “I better believe in myself, because nobody else will, if you first don’t believe in yourself.”

He informed students that the academic persistence that Bolles encourages the students to have helped him to where he is today. He said he was “better prepared for balancing athletic and academic life at Clemson”, while also holding a steady student life.

As Treadwell ended the speech, he hoped the Bolles student body has “the inspiration to…. go out and live their dreams, because nobody else will.”
