Throwback Thursday: Contributions on the Homefront

Ben Greenhut, Contributing Writer

In the wake of the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, it is important to honor the men and women who served in the Armed Forces. It is also interesting to look back on what everyday people did on the home front to help, especially in our communities.

This Throw Back Thursday recognizes the efforts of the Bolles School to aid the war effort during World War Two. In a Bolles Bugle article written in early 1942, the author calls for cadets of Bolles to continue to buy Defense Stamps sold by the school.

These stamps would help the nation produce “tanks, planes, and other implements of war”, as said by the author of the article. The contributions made by the Bolles community and Americans around the nation played a crucial role in securing victory.
