Jacksonville’s Stadium of the Future will become an advanced new hub for the city, much like the Center for Innovation (CFI) has become at Bolles. The new CFI building brings a more modern aesthetic to Bolles which includes an improvement in technology, a newer design, and upgraded working spaces for students to get the best out of their education. Is it possible for the Stadium of the Future to have the same impact for the city of Jacksonville as the CFI has had on Bolles?
The CFI has affected students’ lives at Bolles in a positive way. When asked how the CFI changed her school experience, Diya Comar ‘27 said, “I feel like CFI has made Bolles more advanced and given us more labs, new technology, and more room to learn.” There is no doubt that the CFI has helped Bolles and made it more advanced, and the Stadium of the Future will do the same for the Jaguars and Jacksonville.
Jacksonville City Council recently approved a new stadium for the city and the Jacksonville Jaguars with a cost of more than $1.4 billion dollars. The current stadium is nearly 30 years old, and was built for the Jaguars’ inaugural season in 1995. This Stadium of the Future project will seek to be more energy efficient in order to reduce carbon footprint and offer amazing new experiences to fans and visitors. It also promises to have a significant economic impact, help revitalize the downtown area, and contribute to the surrounding communities. The new stadium is projected to create thousands of construction jobs and will help the environment by creating a translucent roof to reduce energy usage.
Jaguars fans here at Bolles are not only excited for the Stadium of the Future but also have their own hopes of what the stadium will offer. “Well, in my opinion, some of those one o’clock games get pretty hot, and I hope that this new stadium can fix that,” said Leo Guglielmi ’27.
Bennett Surface ‘27 said, “I think with the new stadium I would definitely try to attend more games and show my support, I am really looking forward to it.”
Spirits at Bolles seem to be high regarding the new Jaguars stadium coming in 2028. This is because the stadium should improve attendance, offer more sporting events like bowl games for college, and create jobs for Jacksonville. The CFI building changed our campus and the education experience for our students today and years to come. It is likely that the Stadium of the Future can do the same for Jacksonville.
